Ingredients
Ashwagandha
- Ashwagandha, scientifically known as Withania somnifera, is an adaptogenic herb widely used in Ayurvedic medicine for its numerous health benefits. In skincare, particularly in face lotions, ashwagandha is gaining popularity for several reasons:
- Ashwagandha contains antioxidants that can help combat free radical damage, which contributes to premature aging and skin dullness.
- It may reduce inflammation in the skin, helping to soothe conditions like acne, eczema, or rosacea.
- By supporting the skin's barrier function, Ashwagandha can help maintain skin moisture and reduce dryness.
- As an adaptogen, Ashwagandha helps the body manage stress, which can also reflect positively on skin health, reducing stress-related skin issues.
- Regular use in lotions may promote a more vibrant and youthful complexion.
- Some studies suggest Ashwagandha can aid in collagen synthesis, improving skin elasticity and firmness.
Abyssinian Oil
Abyssinian Oil's biological makeup mimics human sebum, allowing it to penetrate the epidermis rapidly and deeply nourish the skin. This "skin-like" property makes it a perfect fit for all skin types, from dry and sensitive to oily and combination. Key Benefits: Deeply hydrates with Vitamin E.
Babchi
- Babchi, also known as Psoralea corylifolia, is a plant traditionally used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine for its various health benefits. In skincare, Babchi is gaining attention for several reasons:
- Babchi oil is known to have properties that help protect the skin from UV damage. It can be beneficial for improving skin tone and reducing pigmentation.
- The active compounds in Babchi may support collagen production, which can lead to improved skin elasticity and a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Babchi has been found to promote cell turnover and cell regeneration, making it useful for treating conditions like acne and hyperpigmentation.
- Its anti-inflammatory effects can help calm irritated skin, making it a potential ingredient for sensitive or acne-prone skin types.
- It's used for treating various skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema, and vitiligo, although more research is needed to solidify these applications.
Sea Buckthorn
- Sea buckthorn, derived from the berries of the Hippophae rhamnoides plant, has gained popularity in skincare due to its numerous beneficial properties. Here’s an overview of its benefits, uses, and incorporation into lotions for skincare:
- Sea buckthorn is packed with essential fatty acids, vitamins (especially Vitamin C and E, but including B1, B2, B6, K, and retinol), and antioxidants, making it an excellent choice for nourishing the skin.
- It is the only plant food that is known to be the biggest source of all four omega fatty acids -- omega 3, omega 6, omega 7, and omega 9.
- The oil from sea buckthorn berries is known for its hydrating properties, making it a great moisturizer for dry or dehydrated skin.
- Sea buckthorn has been shown to promote wound healing and skin regeneration, making it beneficial for treating scars, minor cuts, and inflammatory skin conditions.
- The antioxidants present in sea buckthorn help combat free radicals, which can lead to premature aging. This makes it effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Sea buckthorn has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe irritated skin and conditions like rosacea or eczema.
- Regular use can help improve skin texture and tone, leading to a more radiant complexion.
